Welcome to Hygge Spaces & Design.

My name is Carlie. My love affair with Design and Denmark began over 20 years ago, where I learnt about all things 'Hygge'. I have since visited countless times (including a memorable house swap with my young family last year); I live and breathe their lifestyle and I now incorporate their simple, functional design and ‘cosyness’ into my design work.

Carlie Fraser - Hygge Spaces and Design

'Hygge' is Danish for cosy space, and it is reflected in all my work. It is about creating an atmosphere and an experience, more so than about things.

Inspiration and experience have crossed many borders to characterize my unique eye for detail and design. I have been fortunate to apply these concepts for many years, on both professional and personal renovations and projects. One such project is our successful Holiday House rental in Blairgowrie Victoria, that we have renovated, aptly named 'The Hygge House'.

Drawing upon two decades of Danish osmosis; extensive world travel and Interior Decorating studies at RMIT, I am now establishing my signature look that is intrinsically ‘Hygge’. I am also on the committee for Beaumaris Modern- celebrating and educating people to appreciate Mid century homes, architecture and design.

I believe that high level interior design should be accessible to everyone, regardless of budget. My honest and warm approach is to help clients create a home to love; to build upon their story and reflect this in their home. I want all my clients to walk in the door and love the spaces I create; I want them to be happy and proud of their home.

My unique blend of mixing hero pieces with vintage finds, not only adds character, texture and warmth, it is also easier on the budget. Nothing excites me more than visiting one of my favourite vintage stores and finding something like an old cray pot that I can creatively use for unique wall art!

I look forward to hearing your story and helping you create a cosy home that reflects you and your family.

“Carlie worked on my lounge / dining areas and did an absolutely splendid job styling it to PERFECTION. She incorporated a touch of vintage with mid century modern and my beloved ‘hero piece’. I can highly recommend, Carlie is a wonderful emerging talent.” Evanne from Reserve House

Hygge - to paraphrase the wonderful Winnie-the-Pooh- when asked how to spell a certain emotion,

’You don’t spell it, you feel it.’
